2014 Volkswagen Passat TDI traction control malfunction

I have a 2014 VW Passat Diesel with the DSG transmission, 54,000 miles, sometimes when I start it I get a warning to service the traction control system, but it won’t show up under my scan tool. Should I just leave it be, or is it something I need to get looked at?? I’ve only had the car for about 4 months now

Many of these dieselgate cars sat still in parking lots for up to 2 years awaiting a fix. During that time rust formed and built up on the brake disc's. When the car was finally driven the rust particles are thrown all over the wheel well when the brakes are used. There is a magnetic pick up sensor on the wheel that measures RPM. It becomes covered with rust and no longer functions accurately. This is what throws the light o the dash. Things will get worse will a continuous light will appear on your dash. I suggest changing the 4 wheel sensors. They are cheap (less than $20 each) and replace the old ones. When you take out the old ones use a soft wire brush and compressed air to remove any loose rust before putting the new sensors in. Otherwise you will be doing the same job over again, soon.

For something like the TCS on a VW, you’ll need a dealer level scan tool as those cars are fully run by computers and any basic scan tool may not make the cut.
