Changing the drivers side CV Axle, every time they try to get the rotor assembly put back on the new axle, the bearings come out of the boot (near transmission). They've changed CV Axles on 2 other vans (siennas) over the years, this is a first for them. Any secrets? Its a pain to get the bearings back into the housing for them when it pops out!
who is "they"?
I'm not aware of any bearings near the transmission. There are bearings inside of a FWD transaxle and there are bearings in the wheel hub. The rotor typically goes on a hub, not axle. And I've never heard of a bearing boot. None of this sounds right to me. Do Siennas use some kind of exotic front axle?
ITs the 3 "wheels" in the boot of the cv axle that kept popping out of place (axle was clipped into transmission like it should but every time they tried to put the rotor assembly on, the wheels (or bearings, which ever they are called) kept pulling out of the housing (no idea the proper names for any of this) They've changed axles on an 09 and an 07 sienna, the 17 shoulda been just as simple but it proved to not be!
alright I think you're talking about the CV joint. Looks like this?
Don't waste your time. Buy a pre-assembled one and shove it in there.

Yes!! It was pre-assembled! but the bearings popped out of that tulip when they went to put the rotor assembly back on :/ Eventually they got it back in and put on!
Who is they? Professional mechanics or a troupe of clowns?
Clowns... my sons lol They are working under the shade tree right now! They finally got it in place!
