2018 Cadillac CT 6 Transmission

Hey Scotty,

I recently bought a 2018 Cadillac CT6 (24K miles), and after a month or so, started to get "slipping" & hard shifting in the transmission when doing a rolling stop. It almost feels like it's not dropping into 1st gear before I get back in the gas. But after a few stops & starts, it would go away. It only happens after the car has been sitting ovenight. I have had it in the dealership twice complaining about it, and the last time, I was told..."that's a feature of the 8-speed GM transmissions for a set of model years...and that it's a "feature"". They said it wasn't hurting the transmission. My response was..."so you're really trying to tell me that GM provided a "feature" that only works for the 1st 10-15 mins you drive the car, then it goes away?" Not mention, a "feature" that can almost give you whiplash it shifts so hard?

I could tell that the Service MGR was being put on the spot, it was almost like a wink wink thing. Like he knows it's BS, but it's what they've been told to tell customers dealing with this issue. Sound like a "feature" to you? Not sure what else to do, other than let it break the transmission, and since I have a lifetime drivetrain warranty, just let them replace it.

Of course they're full of crap and they think you're an idiot. I advise people against buying those Cadillacs cuz they're positive crap. They are very complex transmissions in the Cadillac obviously isn't going to do anything about it. You might talk to a transmission expert and see what their experience is if they can do anything like reprogramming or replace shifts. Solenoids

Yes, I assumed the same thing Scotty. This is disturbing news, as I've been driving Cadillacs for about 15 years now. Had an ATS, XTS and now the CT6. Never had any issues with the ATS or XTS. But I do know just the guy to take it to and have it checked as you suggested. Thanks for the info Scotty, and keep making the great content on YT!
