Hey Scotty,
Love the YouTube channel! Thanks for defending the little guy.
Here is my issue. We bought a 2019 Kia Sedona SX new from the dealer. After almost two years of ownership it became apparent the vehicle's features were not operating as the window sticker and website stated. I was able to confirm via self diagnosis and Kia Service Center diagnosis that the features below were never enabled from the factory
-High Beam Assist (HBA): Auto adjusts the high beams based on road conditions.
-Driver Attention Warning System (DAW): Monitors your driving to determine when you may need a break.
Both the dealership and Kia Corporate "system" does not see the features are included for my VIN (unlike my window sticker). After doing a bit of online research, it seems this is common problem with a very easy fix. Even NHTSA has released a TSB (PS623) showing the steps to resolve it (simply "enable" via OBDII port) and Kia STILL will not admit the vehicle should have these features. There are even YouTube videos on how the dealer can apply the simple fix! With your straight forward outlook, I hope you can shed some light on an issue I guarantee is widespread but going under the radar based on Kia's push back.
VEHICLE INFO: 2019 Kia Sedona, SX, 30K Miles, Automatic
Thanks Again and keep up the great work!

Just thought I would provide an update to this topic.
After about a week dealing directly with Kia Corporate…again…they finally researched the issue from their end and determined I was NOT crazy. When the vehicle was manufactured these two features (HBA and DWA) were never programmed from the factory. They had to force my local dealer to activate via OBDII as such along with an “apology.” Worst part about it was corporate simply forwarded the same damn TSB I had provided the local dealer from day 1.
It was extremely frustrating to see no matter how educated I was on the issue, they still can’t see past their cookie cutter understanding of their own product.
I can almost guarantee all 2019/2020 Kia Sedona SXs have this issue, but most people just don’t pay attention, I mean it is a mini-van. If you own this vehicle, fight for what you paid for!

Hi, can you tell me if there were different TSB's for the HBA and the DWA? I have a 2019 SX and neither are activated.
Thank you for giving us an update and I’m glad Kia admitted their mistake and fixed it for you.
There is only the TSB for HBA. My window sticker proved I paid for DWA? They are Both simple activations via Kia’s OBDII scan tool.
Either way, I had to have corporate force both functions to be activated.
The information i stated above is false….see below for both TSBs and links to the documents….my bad.
Well from my experience Kia dealers really don't give one rats ass about their customers. But do tell them you're going to visit Scotty and he's going to make a video about the whole problem hopefully you still have the sticker so I can show that and I'm sure they'd fix it then maybe they'll even do it without doing that
Evening!
Heroes don't always wear capes I guess!
The last time I showed any sort of discontent with their customer assistance center, they told they would contact me in 5 business days to determine the way forward. Instead they simply closed the claim with NO resolution and of course NO phone call. I even sent an email to James Bell (Head of Public Relations) like a crazy person....that went no where. Could you imagine if the feature missing was say an airbag or a seat belt...that may get some attention.
I do still have the window sticker. Hard copy and Electronic versions. I would post it in this forum but it doesn't seem to have an option.
You can upload your photo/video to a host such as imgur/postimages and then paste the direct link here.
I have had similar experiences with dealers vs KIA corporate. The dealers won't budge an inch while KMA will get any reasonable request fixed. I had a dealer sell me a 5 year service contract on a brand new car. Turned out Kia provided a 5 year warranty with the car. They would have been collecting twice 1st from the third party contractor and then Kia on every repair. I found out when I received two questionnaires from Kia and the third party contractor asking how my service experience was on the very same repair. This was before the repair had been completed and my wife had been driving a loner car for two weeks. I politely answered both surveys stating when the car is finished I would gladly be willing to give them a review. I also pointed out there appeared to be some thing odd about getting two surveys. I got a call from Kia corporate in Irvine CA and explained the situation with the stipulation I was not really complaining about any thing just that the situation seemed a bit odd. I then got an angry call from the service manager demanding I call back KMA and retract my previous statements. Mind you the car is still not fixed and I really have not complained about anything. Well the car got fixed and I was on my way. I got another survey and made a comment about the fact I had to buy a service contract on a brand new car that was supposed to come with a factory warranty. Did not hear any thing back. 1 month later I received a surprise check in the mail. KMA had refunded the full purchase price of the third party contract along with the cost of a piece of trim that was broken when I took delivery but was never replaced.
KMA gives the dealers a lot of latitude. They know the dealers need to make money to survive. They also want to keep their customers happy. That was two years ago and that dealership is now boarded up and deserted. I recommend that if you have a Kia and the dealer is giving you a hard time call KMA irvine. Since then I have had several instances where they resolved issues with intractable dealers.
I am not endorsing any particular car brand. Responsible spokesmen with opposing viewpoints are offered a opportunity for rebuttal.
PS when I was visiting their service department they had blown engine blocks piled up all over the place. I asked a mechanic about them and he said "You don't want to know".
What ever you do don't tell my wife. {black}:sweaty:
I am providing the links to both TSBs. Hopefully your dealers will take these as opposed to other channels.

Just another in the long list of reasons to never buy anything made by KIA.
