Mind you without them tearing it apart they both said it was probably the bushing in the CDF drum??????? Does that sound familiar to you?

Those transmissions are half-baked technological monstrosities, and that's putting it lightly. I don't believe any of us here have that particular transmission in our cars and trucks.

Google this information: Total number of recalls affecting the 10r140 transmission. Google AI will bring up tons of recall information and other complaints.

This surprises me, too. I always thought Ford tended to work out the kinks for their consumer grade F-150 trucks before daring to offer a new transmission in an F-350. Commercial trucks are, or were, Ford's baby. Evidently, Ford royally dropped the ball on them.

Post your miles per the forum instructions, every time, please.

Yes it's a Ford F-350 Model 10R140 Transmission

the plastic pan should have been the first red flag. Ford is cutting corners everywhere they can, every year. They only want their trucks to last the warranty period, and not a day longer.

F350 Transmission hard and delayed shifting

delayed shifting is the number one complaint for this transmission.

You could double-check the fluid level under manufacturer-specified conditions to make certain it is correct.

You didn't say what transmission you have but if it's the infamous 10-speed job those are notoriously bad, so it would be no surprise if it's failing on you. However for something that serious it would be best to get a second opinion from a good independent mechanic, preferably a transmission specialist. (The dealer won't do in-depth diagnostics, they just want to swap parts and charge you a fortune to do it.)

Yes it's a Ford F-350 6.7 diesel, Model 10R140 Transmission

I guess I'll bring it to Mr. Transmission in Sudbury Ontario, Canada soon or if there's another preferred transmission guy that you might know of in my area. Cambrian Ford dealer said $8500 Cnd and Other guy said $7500 Cnd. Mind you without them tearing it apart they both said it was probably the bushing in the CDF drum??????? Does that sound familiar to you?

@yeroled I'm not familiar with the internals of that transmission, just its overall reputation. In general a good independent shop is preferable to a chain shop. Just explain the symptoms and let them do their own diagnosis, don't tell them the dealer wants to condemn the entire transmission.

@yeroled Unfortunately those are well-known for serious problems. The experience GM and Ford had in co-developing that transmission and the aftermath was so bad that both companies have sworn they will never work with each other on any project ever again. You might want to check for applicable recalls or TSBs
