Hi Scotty, I have 2020 BRZ with approx 10k miles. The car was in a minor accident but they had to replace the radiator because the radiator’s bracket was bended. After few weeks while I was in traffic my car was overheated (gage reached to red line, got high temp warning alarm and they car was turned off). I waited 30 min and turned the car on and works without any issue. I drove direct to the dealer and after inspection they found there was air pockets inside the radiator suppose was the cause for the issue. They removed the air pockets using pressure machine and they told the car collision body shop did not fill the coolant properly. They told I should not have any issue in future.
my concern the overhead could damaged the casket or any other parts and issues could show after some time.
please let me know tour thought and if you think the BRZ have any overhead limit switch that can protect the engine or you think there was a potential damage.
it certainly wasn't good for it, but if it still drives ok then motor on. Just keep a very close eye on everything. fluid levels, leaks etc.
Too many variables to really say. How high did the needle get on the temp gauge? How long did you drive it hot for?
Heat is the natural enemy of an aluminum motor and once they overheat that's it. If you aren't having any symptoms, I would keep an eye on it for a while. If it goes well, consider yourself lucky. If it doesn't, well, it sounds like the shop would owe you a motor since they have admitted fault.
