For the past few weeks when I use the auto feature on my drivers window, it does not go all of the way down. It stops with around 2-3 inches still up, and then I have to press and hold the window switch again to get it to go all of the way down. If I cycle it up and down (about 5 times) the amount sticking up decreases until eventually it will go all of the way down with one push (as its designed to and how the other three windows work). However, if I wait about 1-2 minutes, the problem presents itself all over again.
I originally thought it was due to some ice in the door (it was very cold the first day it happened) but no matter how warm it is outside it still acts the same.
It is a 2020 Rav4 LE AWD with just over 7,000 miles on it.
It is under warranty right? Have you gone to them and actually showed them in person?
I haven’t yet as I wanted to have a good idea as to what it may be when I go so that I don’t just get the usual runaround at the dealership.
The dealer cannot give you the runnaround as when you demonstrate the defect it is WHAT it is....Its not something dismissed as sayin..."Ahh..well they do that but it will go away..." Then counter with "So you would buy this car KNOWING it does not work as advertised and KEEP IT ?" This situation is a DEFECT so fix it is the polite demand. Another alternative is to go to another dealer and get their......reaction.....Another is to contact the local Toy Rep which handles complaints that dealers will not handle. This is a black and white case and their is no other interpretation of its defect.
This is unlike another User who posted their Corolla hatchback which makes a hi pitched squeal on her fan speed setting. The dealer says that its...."NORMAL"...yet their are complaints piling up on this very issue already. Its basically Dealer pushback as they don't want to do the work as warranty work is low profit and cuts into profit work for the day. Yours MAY be considered that way...but I can't project what the dealer will say....but be ready for it...as I would not be surprised with some astounding excuse on their behalf. You were being considerate in trying to find out the problem but in this case its under warranty so you should not venture beyond whats required of you. Thats present the problem and tell them to fix it. no excuses...
Whether the problem is caused by failed diode #63 or a misaligned gear tooth makes absolutely no difference here, and won't help you get the problem fixed. It's not the owner's responsibility to know these things. The window should go down, but it doesn't. Cut and dry.
