Hi Scotty,
I've read and seen great reviews on the 2021 Kia Telluride. It even beats out my Toyota Highlander. I have a 2008 with 141k miles. Still runs like a champ. I know you are not a big fan of Kia. What is your take on the Telluride? Does the 10 year power train warranty sway you one way or the other.
Thank you,
John M
Only time tells you but being a Kia product, I'm not holding my breath on that one. Regarding the review, it is 2021 and almost every car is good when it is brand new. Do not fall for that.
We are currently not recommending any Hyundai Motor Group products. If you have been following Scotty for any length of time, then you already know he is not a fan of them either and has been warning people of them. If there was a doubt, see below: also, the 10 year/100,000 mile warranty (only applies to the original owner, btw) is not what it is cracked up to be as more times than not they look for ways to get out of a warranty claim and refer to problems as “Oh, that’s normal”. Plus, some of the mechanics working on the cars have no idea what they are doing.

If you really want it, just lease it and return before the warranty expires; but it would be wiser to avoid it altogether.
Thank you for your answer and follow up! Much appreciated.
I wonder if they’ve always done that with warranty claims or if they learned it from watching GM
Given how many Hyundai/Kia smaller vehicles have spontaneously gone up in flames one of those monsters is going to make a heck of a bonfire if it follows the same pattern.

LOL, great photo. So what you are saying is that Kias are great for roasting marshmellows over them, on the side of the road, but after that, not very good. chuckle! Thanks for the insight.
I understand they're great for making s'mores as well.
Who did the reviews, Kia employees? Here is some really good advice my Grandfather gave me when I was eight -
"Don't believe anything you hear and only half of what you see."
No, these reviews are not by Kia employees, exactly, but rather "journalists" who are flown to vacation destinations and wined and dined, and provided with test cars, track days, etc. The cars are especially prepared by Kia techs. The "journalists" are employed by magazines and web sites which receive their funding from car manufacturers, such as Kia. These reviews are bought, just like many if not most Amazon and Yelp reviews.
Excellent information, Glen. Thank you, from all of us.
Glen Thank you great information. I did not know the reviewers on youtube for example are wine and dined, paid, etc. I knew they were borrowed the car from local dealers but, did not ever think the platform and the reviewers were slanted in this way. Good to know. Thanks again!
I can just about guarantee you that the Telluride will fall apart before 100k miles. Kia has been slipping in quality and all the hype about the Telluride is useless because mechanically it's not gonna really hold up based on their reputation in the past and all the problems they have been having with their vehicles. Also, their 10-year warranty is a bunch of baloney because I have still seen people under warranty in their Hyundai and Kias getting ripped off in repairs.
I would stay away from it and keep driving your 2008 Highlander or if you really want a new Highlander, go ahead and buy one lol.
If u really love Telluride, then lease it for a few years and after that get it out of ur system
Thank you for your answer!
