Scotty,
I'm from Rhode Island, both my parents have Honda's, my mom has 2007 Civic and my father has a 2020 Honda CR-V, both great cars. I'm planning on getting a car in December and the Honda dealer knows my parents and may set me up with a deal, I looked at the new 2022 Honda Civic LX, 2.0 engine non turbo and has everything I want standard, I'd like to know what you think, the used ones prices are so high you might as well get a new one and I love the interior design.
Are you willing to venture into unchartered territory with a new model year?
If yes, then by all means, go for it!
Me personally, I’d wait for a few more years until all the bugs have been ironed out.
I’d hate having my new car make multiple unscheduled dealership visits for silly niggles..
All the best!
Whatever you do try not to have a car payment on a first car. Especially since the insurance will most likely be higher since its a new car and your a new driver.
I would be in the same situation as you in the next 10 years. I would wait until new car prices go down. Otherwise, I don't see anything wrong with the Civic since it's used in newer Honda Accords and Type R except it is turbocharged. And also the Honda S2000s.
If you don't necessarily need a new car, you should get your first car used. So it's cheaper on your parent's budget and I think the insurance is lower if I'm not wrong.
You still have time from now to December to decide whether you want your car new or used. Yes, it's correct that in the current market situation, you would be better off with a new car logically as the 2-3k difference doesn't mean much.
I don't know whether it is going to be your first car as everyone seems to has concluded it is even though you wrote nothing that stated it would be your first car.
If it is, you need to take insurance into account as well and perks of certain covers. If you know in heart you are not a maniac, you don't need to buy coverage that covers a person’s children 100 years from now. An exaggeration, but you know what I mean.
