Hey Scotty and forum members,

The 2022 Nissan Pathfinder reviews are rolling out and in this review. The best part of this car IMO is the interior and NO CVT!! He seems to be satisfied with the smoothness of the ZF 9 speed transmission and a lot better than the Jatco CVT in the previous gen. Can't wait to see how this holds up.

Unfortunately, the Nissan quality is going south for a very long time and it is not only the CVT, the rest of the car does not have a good quality.

their engines are mostly solid and I have felt that the newer Nissans have been improving in build quality under the new leadership. One of the main reasons Nissan Quality went down was because of high volume and relying on low pricing to meet high sales which made them bad and low quality under Ghosn's leadership. Under the new Japanese CEO Nissan, they cut down on production and relying on profit over sales. It's nothing like the older ones which were kinda crap and felt it was gonna fall apart. Try them out and who knows they could be good, time will tell.

@yaser is right. The poor quality at Nissan goes far beyond their CVT issues.

I would never buy one and definitely have no interest in their new offerings. Apparently not many others do either as they are now working with loan sharks Santander and others to try and finance their vehicles. A big no thanks.

I got to see one of the new 22 pathfinders and they seem to be very well built and the 9 speed is a plus. The quality has been improving over the last couple years. The redesigned Altima since 19 have been of very little concern for common problems the maximas have been solid. There has definitely been an improvement in all around design and dependability and it should continue to rise. But in the new pathfinder I like it a lot and could definitely see it being a worthy purchase for myself at some point

I think I would wait to see the kinks get worked out with them putting in the new tranny. That said, it's definitely a step in the right direction.

And I feel like people citing quality beyond the CVT have their minds made up going into the conversation. I've owned and driven countless Toyotas, Hondas, and Subarus (well, about 25....I can count them), and all of their smaller cars feel like rattletraps. Cheap plastics and interior materials are the norm and some of Nissan's cars, minus the CVT garbage, have absolutely been better than their competitors. That said, I wouldn't put much into Nissan's unibody offerings or cars until they make changes that are tested out over a few years.

This site in general is very anti Nissan. I would definitely still give it until second year after redesign for myself just because it is a complete overhaul so there’s bound to be bugs. I’ve worked on my fair share of other manufacturers and I would agree a lot of the Honda’s and Toyota’s and such I’m not a fan of the interiors and even the design of alot of them but again to each there own people are entitled 100% to there preference. I try and shed light on the fact as much as you read online not all nissans are as bad sweet! People feel they are

The new ZF 9-speed AT has had issues in other vehicles including ‘reliable’ Honda.  Jury is out on that transmission’s long term reliability/durability but on other vehicles it has not been good so far.  Better than Jatco CVT, for sure, but that was a low bar to begin with.
