Hello everyone!
Looking at a newer Highlander. 2023 & 2024 models no longer offer the 3.5L V6, but a 2.4L Turbo 4-cyl for the gas models, and a 2.5L naturally aspirated Hybrid 4-cyl. I know turbos ram extra air into the engine wearing it out faster, but then again you have to deal with the possibility of Hybrid maintenance/hybrid battery. Of the two, which would be the better choice?
It’s a rock and a hard spot. The way I see it, is that the Toyota hybrid technology is 20-25 years old en masse. The Toyota turbo technology and engine combo is relatively new en masse.
The hybrid technology has proved itself. The turbo technology is not time tested yet. It could very well be long lived. We just don’t know.
Hybrid by a long shot. Doesn't cost much more either.
