Accelerator cable broke

I was changing the intake manifold gasket on my 2003 Corolla LE (automatic and 210k miles) and just as I was finishing up I noticed that the accelerator cable next to the throttle body was broken. I'm not sure how this happened but now the car won't start and obd scanner shows code P0120. There is 2 nuts that screw into each other to hold the cable in place, but one of them broke and is now above the threads and can't be loosened to be reattached to the threads. Will I need to replace the accelerator cable or can I find some DIY fix? Thanks

Well if it's broken you have to replace the cable start there.

I can't find a good fix for my model, would it be possible for you to make a video on this?

If you can't locate a new throttle cable you may need to go with a used one.

Depending on where it's broken you might be able to MacGyver a fix. Years ago I had my throttle cable break while on a long trip and I "fixed" it on the side of the road with one of my shoelaces. Never did replace that cable. I drove that car on the shoelace for quite a few years.

However that P0120 code indicates a problem with the throttle position sensor (or its wiring), so that's something you need to look into. If replacement is needed an OEM sensor is best if available, otherwise Denso or NTK which are typical Toyota suppliers for sensors. You may have disturbed wiring when replacing that gasket.

Other than that see the no-start section of the site FAQ for troubleshooting tips.

Thank you
