Alternator cable stuck to alternator cause of rust

Hi Scotty,

I have a C240 2005 w203 (Chassis) M112 (Engine) Mercedes and I usually work on it myself. Recently it reached 130K miles so I decided to replace the alternator because I didn't want to be stranded going to work. The issue is that all screws came off that hold the alternator in place. The clip wire with two thin gauge cables also came off easily. There is one other heavy gauge cable connected to the alternator with a 13mm nut. This nut is rusted and stuck to the wire plate and after trying a beaker bar to rotate it, the entire nut and the screw spun and broke off the plastic part behind the alternator, or I guess its called the voltage regulator? Anyways the new alternator has that already so no worries there. So is there a way I can reroute that cable from somewhere else on the car? or is it possible to cut the cable off right before the plate and then attach another alternator battery cable? Thanks in advance, i'm stuck with this project. Please see pics!

1st of all, you should have left the old alternator on there.

Underneath the wire terminal (wire plate as you call it) there is another nut. you need to hold the inner nut with one wrench, and loosen the outer nut with another wrench. Tap the wrench with a hammer to break the rust. You really want to avoid replacing the wire.
