For some reason there is an oil change reported on my cars AutoCheck in February of 2020 with an odometer reading of 87,000 miles. However My car was not serviced there on this date, and at the time my car actually had about 45,000 miles, now it has about 66,000. The service manager at this dealership said it was a result of human error and there’s nothing that can be done about to correct this issue. Well I’m having trouble trading this car in because dealerships believe the odometer has been rolled back. One wouldn’t take it at all and another dealer offered $9,000 below the cars value because of this. I don’t know what to do. Do you have any advice for me? Thank you.
Ask the good folks at AutoCheck how this can be corrected.
I did, and honestly I think it’s an automated reply system. I’ve been trying to contact them, it’s been hard to get ahold of them.
Looks like AutoCheck is owned by Experian. See if you can get anywhere with them. Meanwhile, maybe try listing your vehicle and try to sell it to an individual. You might get more for it that way.
Interesting to see they’re owned by Experian, I would’ve imagined like Something like some advertising place like motor trend. My next step is an individual but this car is literally falling apart and I still owe on it so honestly it would just be a lot easier to trade it in instead of selling it to an individual.
Had the same problem I had to call 888-409-2204 for AutoCheck. Spoke with a representative that told me I needed a oil change receipt or emissions inspection after the odometer discrepancy date. So I went and got a oil change and took a picture and sent it over to the email the agent sent me he fixed the two discrepancies in 5 hours. I wasn’t happy either I was trying to sell my jeep to CarMax at the time lost a little money because someone made a mistake. Good luck
Literally the same exact thing here. I never did my own oil changes anyways so luckily I already had those papers. I emailed them a few days ago and they just got back to me, it looks like they’re taking it off thankfully.
Scotty has mentioned that the car's computer stores the mileage information as well that can't be tampered with, and it can be accessed with a scan tool. I'm not sure of how high functioning of a scan tool you'd need, but you could try pointing this out to the salespeople and show it to them, if you have a scan tool, etc. Their service department can see that information.

I was thinking the same thing.
