Bad gas mileage

We have a 2014 Rogue Nissan with 70,000 miles. Around 10,000 miles ago I noticed our gas mileage had fallen. We use to be able to drive from Sacramento, Ca. to Klamath Falls, Or. on a full tank. Also, around this time, we noticed the speed notification meters are telling us were moving along about 5 miles an hour slower than the Rogue is showing. Not sure if that has anything to do with it, unless it's the transmission. I did change the trans. filter and fluid at 50,000 miles. As you know it has a CVT transmission.

The first thing I did was to replace the spark plugs and made sure the air filter was clean. Then I took it into the shop to check the oxygen sensors were working correctly. The mechanic said everything is fine and sees no issues as to why our mileage is down. This is such a drag, because it has been a good vehicle and we liked that it got good mileage. That's part of the reason we bought it brand new.

Today I realized I haven't changed the fuel filter. As I said before, no issues to make me think the fuel filter is bad. Went online and found out that the 2014 Rogue doesn't have a separate filter, it's part of the fuel pump.

Any suggestions to why our mileage has gone down so dramatically?

Thank you

WIF

Have you looked under our FAQ page under Fuel?

Usually the fuel filter clogs causing less fuel to flow. Typically that won't make your miles / gallon go down. It would decrease you gas consumption

Rubbish. anything other than a stoichiometric mixture of fuel will result in reduced efficiency and misfires. If this were true everyone would just turn down their fuel pressure.
