Battery light flickering on dash

Topic starter

I have a 2004 Toyota Solara SE. I realized it was taking an extra half second to crank, so went to test my components and found a bunch of batter acid on my battery (a $20 rebuilt that I got 2 years out of), now after cleaning off all the acid my batter light a lot when I drive. No trend do it. I got a new battery,to replace the one leaking vapor,  and it is still happening. I went to auto zone and got everything re-tested and it's all coming back fine. I just don't want my car to leave me stranded, or cause extra problems and extra money by not taking care of something now, but I can't figure it out. No cel either.

Hello,

The battery light will flicker when your battery drops below a certain voltage. It can drop below a certain voltage if your alternator is getting worn out or if there is too much slack on the drive belt for it. You can test the battery voltage with a multimeter at idle and see if it is at a normal range for your model. If it is only flickering and turning back off after a bit you might be fine. For piece of mind you can install a $10 voltage reader that plugs into your 12v cigg lighter outlet

The belt seemed tight, but I just ordered a voltage reader from amazon so I can see what it reads when I'm driving and the light flickers on. Thanks for your suggestion.
