Best Buffer/Polisher?

Topic starter

I'm in the market to buy a buffer or polisher, but I am unsure where to go and which brands are good.

Separate question, after compounding do you have to polish? Just curious.

I'm trying to clean these weird white water spots off of a quarterpanel.

If it's just minimal  mineral deposits, just wash it down and properly dry you car this time around. If you are looking for like a clean mirror look, then buff and polish if you are gonna show it off. Compounding is just liquid very fine sandpaper, so yes, If you want for your car not to have a hazy look, then you have to polish. And preferably wax or coat it after. You can run Meguiars or chemical guys. Both are pretty good though you could probably find Meguiars at an auto parts store.

I'm more specifically looking for a electric buffer tool.

I plan to use the Meguire's stuff, since the spots didn't come off after a wash.

If you looking to go on the cheaper side of things an electric drill and some attachments are more than enough tbh just make sure you get one that has variable speed and be sure not to stick in one area for too long so you don't just burn through the clear coat

Be careful using any power buffer/polisher. it's very easy to burn through your car's finish and ruin it. Autogeek is a great place to start. They have lots of products and how-to videos. One feature you want, is one where you can set the speed manually.

One reason I don’t buff/polish my cars, ever. I don’t trust myself and I don’t want to pay someone lots of money to do it right.

Yeah....the guys on Saturday/Sunday mornings make it look sooo easy, but that's because they have lot's of experience. It's one of the things I don't have the patience for. I use products that I can get a good result by hand.
