So I've got one of those planet killing diesels with an EGR, and I'd like to remove the built up carbon from inside the pipe that goes back into the engine from the EGR. I've thought about buying about 10L of the EGR cleaner and leaving it soaking overnight, but I'm a bit of a cheapskate so was wondering if there's another option?. When Scotty talks about soaking your catalytic converter in soapy water - would that work?. I might buy another replacement pipe so I can switch them out and clean them over a few days.
I was thinking about doing it mechanically with a drill and a brass brush, but was worried bits might loosen that I can't see in the bend and end up back in the engine.
Thanks
Soak it in marvel mystery oil overnight. I had a lower unit on a mercruiser boat engine that wouldn't shift right. I drained the oil, filled with Marvel, soak in the hot dun for a week and drained it. It went in red, but came out black. Put new lower unit oil back. Shifted like new. It works wonders.
