Black Carbon deposit and High Fuel consumption
I have hyundai accent, I change my oxygen sensor a month ago.
But recently after 3 weeks or 4 my fuel consumption change. My car begin to consume more fuel than usual. I then notice my spark plug is having black carbon deposit, my exhaust is also black carbon deposit, I remove my oxygen and it's also black carbon deposit.
I'm having this trouble codes
P0141 O2 sensor heater circuit bank 1sensor 2(this code came just today after I use JML Emissions reduction treatment and drive on high speed)
P0030 HO2S heater control circuit bank 1 sensor 1
P2177 System too lean off idle bank 1
P0171 System too lean Bank 1
P2177 System too lean at idle bank 1.
What could be the possible cause ( could it be my O2 sensor failed again)
The car vibrate when in parking mode, or driving mode idle.
Look like the spark plugs are not working properly.
Once I put new spark plug it will seems normal like 5 minutes and turns out black deposit...
I'm using aftermarket sensor
That might be your problem right there. Critical sensors need to be OEM, or at least from the OEM supplier (Denso, Bosch, etc. - whoever Hyundai bought them from).
I found this out the hard way years ago when trying to save a few bucks on an upstream O2 sensor. The aftermarket sensor I installed resulted in the car running like crap and throwing all kinds of crazy, spurious codes. All the problems disappeared after installing an OEM O2 sensor. Lesson learned.
Wow interesting, I thought as much but having doubts and end up replacing other parts causing me so much money.
The aftermarket O2 sensor fixed did not even look strong, in my eyes. My mechanic purchase this item and replace it.
My next question, if the O2 sensor is the cause of all this damage
The black smoke on the spark plug
The black smoke from the exhaust when in parking mode
Will this black symptoms vanish when the original O2 sensor is fixed.
The upstream O2 sensor is used by the fuel injection system to determine the proper fuel mixture so if that's not working properly you can wind up with things like the computer pushing too much fuel through the injectors because the sensor is telling it the mixture is too lean. You may have problems with the aftermarket MAF sensor as well.
OK Thank you.
Is definitely the sensor
Because that's the code I usually get P0030 p0131
Other codes concerning lean will come later when I continue to drive continuely.
So it means the O2 sensor is the culprit here.
They @Chuck Tobias, thank you very much for your assistance. After buying the OEM oxygen sensor and replace it all my problem are gone. No smoke, no idle, no back spark plug, smooth drive and fuel consumption is back to normal.
This solve my issue.
Great, and thanks for letting us know!
Hello, please I drove for 90miles this morning at a speed of 60-70MPH
And after I reach my destination I put off the car.
I just start the car right now and I got P0131 oxygen sensor
P2187
P2177
I got this code again.
Did this means my O2 sensor failed again, this one is the OEM.
Or can this come back to normal when leave car down for sometimes to cool down
smoke test for exhaust leaks
I open my engine top just now to look at my spark plug and I notice 2 of my spark are full of engine oil and the coil is also oily. Too much engine oil in there.... Can this be the cause of the newly code from the oxygen sensor
If the outside of the spark plugs and the coils are oily you have a leaky valve cover gasket. It might cause misfires due to contamination of the coils but would not affect the O2 sensor.
Please go through the possible causes and the diagnostic procedures in the links that were provided. (Chances are the root problem is the condition causing the P0131 code.)
If the part of the spark plugs inside the engine are oil fouled you have either a badly plugged-up PCV valve or a worn-out engine.
Realize that a 2006 Accent is an 18-year-old economy subcompact that really at this point is beyond its expected service life. Multiple problems would not be surprising.
What is the car's age and mileage? Did you use an OEM O2 sensor? The computer "thinks" the engine is running too lean so it's increasing fuel flow when it's not needed. What do your fuel trims look like? O2 sensor data? MAF sensor data?

Car mileage is 154142, car age is 5 years and the obd2 am using is Xtool Ad20 which is not showing graph data. Though I change my maf sensor few days ago but still.
The model is 2006 hyundai accent
Are you using OEM sensors or aftermarket?
Description of that scan tool says it display live data (just about all scan tools can do it these days), so even if it doesn't graph it can give you the data in numerical format for analysis.
Yes the description for Xtool Ad20 have live data, but on the live data section only few data available, O2 sensor data not part.
I'm using aftermarket sensor
I just start the car right now and I got P0131 oxygen sensor
P2187
P2177
I got this code again.Did this means my O2 sensor failed again, this one is the OEM.

I will be very glad if you assist me on this. I open my engine top just now to look at my spark plug and I notice 2 of my spark are full of engine oil and the coil is also oily. Too much engine oil in there.... Can this be the cause of the newly code from the oxygen sensor
