?Brake Parts Cleaner To Start A Car/Automobile?

My car won't start.  I sprayed brake parts cleaner in the plenum/intake manifold.  Car still will not start.  Does this mean I have a problem other than fuel?  Will brake parts cleaner temporarily start a car?

Can you list for us all the troubleshooting you have already done to get to this point?

Verified spark. Didn't have starter fluid so used brake parts cleaner in plenum to see if car would start temporarily. I heard brake parts cleaner would work. Was attempting to not buy a can of starter fluid because I figured after this it would just be sitting around for nothing.

Have you gone through our sticky and ruled those out?

Starting fluid is ether, extremely volatile and easy to ignite. If you have any spark at all the engine will at least briefly fire up with starting fluid, though it will quickly die if there is no fuel flowing. Carb cleaner isn't suitable.

Getting ready to go to the store. So are you telling me that Brake Parts Cleaner is not a viable option to temporarily start a car?

Correct. In fact when sprayed into the air intake of a running engine it will tend to make it stall out. Get some starting fluid, it's cheap.

I would try that with starter fluid and if it starts something is probably wrong with your fuel system.

You don't know what's in your brake cleaner. Try starting fluid instead.
