2022 Hyundai Veloster N P030400 code

I just bought a brand new Hyundai Veloster N 2022. It had 63 miles when I bought it and it got to about 2100-2200 miles when I got my first check engine light for power train dtc p030400.

My Hyundai dealership has had to fix this problem twice, and both times they have told me it’s because they’re finding E85 in my tank when the car is supposed to take premium. I feel like they’re lying to me because the two times I have gotten gas on these two incidents I have went to gas stations that don’t even sell E85. So they’re most likely scamming me.

I have my car back now but in case it happens again what should I do, I now know through research that this code means there is misfire on cylinder 4 and they replaced the spark plugs the first time but not the second time. They also were going to replace the fuel injectors on the second incident but they were able to clean the current ones enough to get them working again. So besides spark plugs and fuel injectors, what else could this misfiring be from.

Because eventually, from both times, it has led to my head gasket being blown and white smoke coming out of my exhaust and the car is basically dead (it would still start but couldn’t go anywhere). And my car is automatic by the way. I also feel like in both incidents, this didn’t happen until I was at about a quarter tank of gas left. Because I took my car on a long trip 100 miles away and back right before it blew the first time. So why would E85 wait so long to mess my car up if it is “bad gas”. I feel like they’re scamming me.

Clarification: Did you say your head gasket is blown? Did the dealer confirm that?

I suggest you get something more reliable. Considering Hyundai's bad reputation, common sense tells me it is just the begining of the problems. Don't expect dealer's honesty in such case.

Hyundai vehicles at least in the U.S. market are rolling piles of junk. That car is under warranty and since dealerships don't make profit off of warranty work they'll try to do whatever they can to blame you for the issue so they can charge you. Until the car is working get rid of it and get something reliable. At the price of this car you have buy a brand new Civic or Corolla hatchback or Civic hatchback; those are reliable cars.
