Hey Scotty
Been watching you for years, a friend of a friend has a 2008 Toyota Rav4 limited V6, auto, 4wd, 186,000 miles and wants to sell it for $4800 seems like an ok deal but what should i look out for when checking it out? Any problems with that make or model? Thanks
For issues/reliability see below: since that is the V6 you bypass the oil consumption issues that the 2.5L I4 had. There were also some complaints about the transmission (but no where near the number as the oil burning issue), so keep an eye on that (you need a independent, honest mechanic like Scotty with his fancy scan tool to hook up, road test, and analyze all the data, esp. the transmission data). Also, see video below on what else to look for. If you don’t need AWD, I would pass on it to avoid higher maintenance/repair costs over time. Otherwise, if a mechanic thoroughly checks it out it and gives the OK it seems like a decent deal (in these times).
