I live in Northern Virginia, close to the DC area. Do you think it’s a good idea to buy a car from DC since DC is not a state?
Can you not find a car in your state that you like? I'm always amazed by people who buy cars in other places. Are you looking for something rare? Because that is about the only time it makes sense.
I’m generally looking for Hyundai’s and Kia’s, but they’re all over the place. Some are in Maryland and some are in Virginia.
@mattjyim Oh you decided to drop the bomb
"I’m generally looking for Hyundai’s and Kia’s"
@mattjyim Don't waste your money on a Korean car. They fall apart over time and do not age well. I would look for a Honda/Toyota option.
I agree, get the Toyota or Honda
It’s fine - You’ll have to register it (and pay the fees) in your state anyways.
Why bother. If you were in California I'd say sure the prices are double what they are in the mid west/east coat but why do that to save a few bucks, which will most likely come out of your pocket in other expenses anyways.
Update: Since its a Kia, it won't matter either way you will regret your purchase.
There's another factor to consider here, other than taxes and registration hassle. I live in MD and work in DC. Have you noticed how cars are driven in DC? Short trips, accelerate then stop, accelerate then stop, accelerate then stop, potholes, potholes, potholes. In other words, the most wear per mile possible. If you can, get a suburban-driven car.
Just get it in the state you are in. Don't get a KIA either.
