I’m looking at 2 used cars for sale. One is a 2008 Mercury Mountaineer with 112,567 miles. The service history is well documented and the car seemed cared for. The second one is a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 126,115 miles on it. It has 4 wheel drive. The service record is not complete, but the car seems to be in decent shape.
The mountaineer is AWD
i have had a mechanic buddy look at both and he says they seem fine, good cars for their age.
Which one do I buy?

Neither are great but if both are mechanically in good shape I would go with the Mercury IF IT IS a V8 engine. If it is a V6, run away. The 99-04 Grand Cherokees were good SUV's but the newer ones get more close to a heep of junk as time goes on.
I would consider an 05 06 Toyota Highlander or a Honda Pilot FWD.
