I just became the owner of a 2019 HRV AWD. By far the newest car or truck Ive owned. Id like to get as much height as I can. Snows here a lot. Can I go from the 215/55 R17 to a 235/65 or 70 and not effect the cars electronic or harm the car in any way?

No. Leave it the way it is. If you modify the tires, the wheel speed sensors will be off after the mod, which requires the car to be programmed with the new circumference (increased tire size equals a larger circumference, and speed is based on tire circumference). The vehicle was designed with factory tires in mind. If you go to a larger tire, it will strain the car's transmission unnecessarily. It takes for effort from the transmission to start the car rolling and keep it rolling.

There is a point in which the tires will start scraping the fenders. This forum has some info, looks like you can get an extra half inch clearance on 225/55 r17 without issues at least. You have fairly decent clearance at 6.7 inches as it is.

Keep in mind that when you get bigger tires, you are going to get worst gas mileage, and you may notice the car doesn't have the same "get up and go!" because it is turning larger tires. It will also throw your speedometer off a bit.

How often are you plowing through snow? Do you have a lot of un-plowed roads where you live?
