Hey Scotty, big fan! You've taught all of us a lot. Im looking to buy a car but I don't know whats the best for me. I want a good balance between reliability, great mechanically, American muscle, and mpg. Naturally with that I'll have to go with the none V8 route. My choices are between 2015-2019 Dodge charger Gt's, 2015-2019 Dodge charger sxt's, 2015-2017 Ford Mustang V6's, and or 2015-2019 Ford Mustang 4 cylinder turbos. Can you rank all 4? 1 being the best and 4 being the worst. Also, My two favorite are the Dodge Charger Gt's and Mustang V6's, can you tell me between those two which you think is better. Thank you!
automatic or manual transmissions?
Also, correct me if I am wrong, the Charger with the Hellcat engine, the Mustang V6 with the Cyclone engine, and the Mustang I4 with the EcoBoost engine?
Automatic transmission. The Charger GT has the v6 pentastar engine, and yes the rest are correct.
Out of those the only one I would buy would be the mustang v6 if you want something that can last a long time Chrysler products are garbage and I don't like those turbocharged tiny 4 cylinder engines
I agree 100%. Its unfortunate, but quality is really lacking with the muscle cars these days from all the Big Three.
Scotty nailed it. The ONLY car I would consider would be the V6 Mustang. It did not have direct injection or turbos, so it could last a long time. The only things to note are they did have A/C problems (potential $3k fix outside of warranty) and absolutely get the automatic. The manuals were/are terrible across all Mustang models. Scotty mentions this in a recent video:
The Chrysler stuff looks awesome, but it falls apart. I traded in my 2019 Charger R/T for my 2020 Accord because of quality problems. Also, stay away from the V8 Mustangs. Since 2018 they have had severe engine issues. Google can give you plenty of reading on that.
Of those the Mustang V6 is the only one to consider, and with the automatic.

In terms of overall reliability and longevity, neither of the modern muscle cars are built to last, unfortunately. If you get one, make sure it is under warranty the entire time then get rid of before the warranty expires or just lease it and get out of your system.
