I have been having this problem for a while now, if I ever accelerate hard to like 6k rpm or kick-down the transmission to overtake someone the car will go up 5500 - 6k rpm but it would randomly drop rpm to like 4k jerk back and forth and catch itself and go back to 6k , to describe it, it feels like when you take your foot off the gas pedal for 2 seconds and press it hard again (btw it is happening when the gas pedal is floored). I changed spark plugs and the coil packs, fuel filter was changed earlier this year, air filter is a little dirty but not too dirty, so idk if it is fuel related or air related. The gas mileage has also dropped.
It is a 1998 Honda CR-V with around 300k km.
The only air related sensor it has is the MAP sensor.
it idles great and drive great at low- normal speeds, is only when the rpm’s get high when driving it does it, if I rev to max rpm in park it behaves normal.
When was the last time you serviced the transmission?
I think a year and half ago or 2
Considering the mileage, odds are that the transmission is somewhat worn out. Baby it to make it last. You can always go to a transmission pro to check it for diagnosis.
Alright thanks
My vote is for a failing torque converter causing the famous GM shudder.
