Car not starting

I have a 1999 honda accord manual transmission. Lights dim in dash when i try to start the car but all it does is one click and nothing

it's not my starter or battery. the sentry key immobilizer light is on.

Well, you didn't say anything about that initially. If it's a key problem you might try a locksmith to see if they can make you a key that works.

How old is the battery? Also check the FAQ section on diagnosing starting problems.

Have the battery and alternator load tested. Test the starter.

Along with what @chucktobias said, If the contacts are going in the starter, it will do that. Try several more times of turning the key to see if it catches, if it does, it is your starter. Might want to do a quick test of the battery first to eliminate that.

When they start doing that, it will usually give you a few more starts, not always though.

 


it's not my starter or battery. the sentry key immobilizer light is on. that is a key in a circle with a line going across. the key light only comes on if the immobilizer chip is not recognized with the computer. this is a theft precaution.
