Car sitting low, rough ride

Hey Scotty! I have a honda and lately i have been observing that my car has been sitting quite low and the ride has been rough. However, all the videos and websites that i have visited say that the strut and shocks are going when the ride is soft, but for my car, is harder.

Do i need to change my car suspension?

Also, Should i go for the stock ones, which are pretty hard, but given that I live in india, the roads are not good for the most part. So I want a softer setup, In that case should i go for a gabriel or a monroe setup, since those are the only companies that i have available for aftermarket parts.

Thanks

What year & model Honda do you own?

@InThrustWeTrust I own a 2009 Honda City.

The primary job of springs, is to hold up the weight the vehicle and its cargo. The primary job of struts and shocks is to hold the tire in contact with the road and soften the ride quality. Struts are a combination of the two, but the functions are still the same. The car sitting very low is likely the springs being shot, and the rough ride your struts and shocks. Not surprised given you're in India and from what I've seen the roads are pretty bad there. Scotty doesn't particularly like Monroe or Gabriel, he goes for KYB, but you may be limited to what is available to you there in India.

check the suspension. Regarding the after market ones, ask around and look up online to find out what gives you a softer ride.

Did KYB stop selling their products in India?

I clearly remember seeing their Excel-G model for the City on Boodmo, sometime last year..

I just checked boodmo, there aren't any KYB shocks for the Honda City i-Vtec that i have, it is there for the city ZX though.
KYB is also twice the cost of OEM, which is kinda costly in itself. Maybe i just stick to the OEM then? Do you know whether Monroe or Gabriel are any good, or whether any one of them are softer than the OEM?

are you from india too? @InThrustWeTrust

thanks

Hmm strange, when I last checked, it was cheaper than the OEM (Gabriel). KYBs usually ride a tad stiffer than OEM, but last much longer. Yeah I’d just stick to OEM, in that case. That’s such a shame, because it seems that it’s now being imported from the UAE/EU.

Nope not really, this forum gets asked questions from all over the world..
All the best.
