Car taking a while to start cranking

Hi, I recently bought a 1991 Buick Park Avenue with 227,000 kilometers (141,051 miles). A new starter, timing belt, battery, and alternator were put in. But 2 weeks after I bought it, it started taking longer and longer to start. When I put the key into the ignition to start it, a fan-like sound comes on for a long while before it starts cranking and then it starts. And also, when I put the key in the ignition in the start position, and hold it for 15 seconds, take it out and put it back in, it starts. I know that’s abnormal, but I don’t know what could be causing this. Any help would be very appreciated. Thank you.

Hopefully you don't intend using that decades-old thing as a daily driver.

That car is so old it could be just about anything. What diagnostic steps have you taken so far? Have you checked the usual suspects? (By the way, a 1991 Park Avenue does not have a "timing belt".)

(Those "suspects" of course being things like spark plugs, spark plug wires, vacuum leaks, air and fuel filters, fuel pressure, cleaning throttle body and MAF sensor, any OBD1 codes, and engine compression.)

Sounds like you might need an ignition switch. Test to see if it is bad.
