I have a 2013 Chevy Equinox that has been very well maintained. It has new or newer brakes, tires, plugs, wires, muffler, water pump. Everything in and on the car runs as new. No body damage or dings. Interior A+. Oil changed every 5k. I am shopping for a new car and want to sell this privately to maximize my return. I don't want a dealer low ball. JUST THIS WEEK I got a P0420 code and my trusted mechanic says it looks like the CAT Convertor is shot. Now I have the problem of shelling out big bucks to replace it and hope I can recoup some money on it at sale. QUESTION is: do CAT cleaners work...is there a way to get that code off with some voodoo technique...if I try the cleaner what one is recommended...The car is good until next October before it needs a NJ State emission test...drives fine with the code also...car has 180K miles..is there such a thing as a second hand CAT from a junk yard? Thanks

i tried catcleaner, 2 bottles, did not work, but i felt ride was a little bit smoother, not really noticeable, the check engine light did go out for a day then came back. so its a scam, is not going to extremely cleanup your cat, youre better off just using the Gumout fuel injectors cleaners than that.
Theyn usually run perfectly fine with that stupid code. With the mileage on that being a cavalier it has very little resale value anyway I just drive the thing and you want to sell it just reset the code put some cleaner in it and get rid of it
