Change in mpg after changing front tires

Hi Scotty, thank you for your videos. I recently had my two front tires replaced by a mechanic due to getting a flat but I'm noticing a significant reduction in miles per gallon, from 32 mpg before to 22 mpg with the new tires. Is this something to expect and that the miles will improve as the new tires get worn in? I also had the tires rotated where I put the two old front tires on the rear and had the new tires installed on the front. The flat was in one of the rear tires.

You left out a few details.

The make is a 2018 Mazda CX3 Sport with 35000 miles and automatic transmission. The new tires are Uniroyal Tiger Paw Touring while the old ones were Yokohama.

Is it an AWD model?

It's a 2WD front wheel drive model.

Different brand tires of the same size and properly inflated wouldn't make that huge a difference in gas mileage - that's an over 30% drop! Even the old bias-ply tires would not drop your mileage by that much compared to modern radials. Something else is going on.
