I have a 2012 Nissan Xterra, 120k miles, 4.0 liter, automatic transmission. I got a CEL for the catalytic converter, code p0430. I drove it like this for a couple weeks while deciding how to act on it. I took the car for a 2.5 hour drive 80mph plus to a baseball game, and then turned around and came home. To my surprise on the way home the CEL turned off and hasn’t come back on for a few weeks. Is it possible the long drive heated up and cleaned out the cat? I mostly drive back and forth to work 3 miles one way and at low speeds. Is it possible this low rpm/low speed commute is contributing to my cats becoming clogged? Any advice on how I should proceed, would you replace the cat with a generic universal one? The OEM is almost $1000. Should I just wait it out and see what happens next? Thanks so much for your help

It sounds like maybe the Italian Tune Up cleaned out your cat.
