Hello, I just replaced my MAF sensor on my 2002 Volvo S40 with 111,947 miles and engine codes PO101,PO102, and PO172 will not go away. The car feels rough on start and will stall after a few minutes of idling. I disconnected the battery for 45 minutes to try and reset the ECU so the car could relearn everything but still nothing. I had left the car sitting for about 3 months because I did not have the money to get it fixed. Could the code be appearing because the engine or fuel is dirty? By the way put brand new Chevron premium gas and Liqui Moly Jectron cleaner to help clean the fuel, but I'm scared to drive the car to let all the fuel work its way through the fuel system to clean out the crud because it wants to stall, plus the rough running condition and codes its shooting. Please anyone know what to do?
Thank you for the reply, I plugged my scan tool in and cleared the codes, they immediately popped up again.
Is this MAF sensor after market or OEM? Have you made sure of your electrical connections and that the air box and its fittings are all tight? Dis you use electrical cleaner on the contact points of the plug in connectors?
The MAF sensor I bought is made by Professional Parts Sweden, I don't believe they are OEM. I have not check the connections with a multimeter yet to see if the connections themselves are the problem. The air box fittings are all secured and the air filter is new. I didn't have electrical cleaner for the connections so I use computer duster to remove debris. I cleaned the throttle body with throttle body cleaner, and used compressed air around the vacuum hoses to see if there was a vacuum leak couldn't find any.
