Hello everyone!
I have a problem with my brakes in my 1999 Honda Accord 2.0i es vi cg9
Ive changed the brake rotors and brake pads about a year ago but when i am cruising at 68mph and start braking the steering wheel doesnt shake but when im at 80mph or above that speed my steering wheel and brake pedal start shaking every time i brake ONLY under braking, and when i hold the brakes the steering wheel moves a bit to the left and right really slowly from 40 and 30mph. I thought it was the tires but i have already balanced the tires and didnt see any results.
Can it be the brake rotors that are warped or is it something else that i should look into?
Btw the brake rotors and pads are Zimmerman and ATE so they are high quality. 🙂
I'll appreciate it if you guys can help me out cause this problem is driving me crazy.
Best regards Max
If pad and rotor have been switched out perhaps do a fluid exchange. See if that helps. If not, take a look at the caliper, see if it's in proper working order and the boot isn't damaged or something. Did you have uneven wear I'm your last set of pad and rotors?
@bruceree
Both front brake calipers are brand new, one is about a year old and the other one is about two years old and brake fluid is also changed.
When i changed the brakes the older ones didnt have any uneven wear.
Probably warped rotors, … but not necessarily. Sometimes uneven torque of lug nuts or over tightening them will cause such vibration, … or rusted / uneven mating surfaces between rotor and wheel mounting face. Also a wheel run out excessive. I would check all that, first, …

@figmund-sreud
The wheels are in perfect shape and are perfectly round. I actually torque all the wheels every time i install my wheels. When i changed the rotors i made sure that the hub is perfectly clean before installing the new ones.
Well, … than still a mystery. Try this, … move front wheels to the back and rear to the front. Drive it and see if there is a difference. Sometimes, some kind of unbalance sneaks right in, be it replacement rotor faulty, be it tire/wheel combination requires excessive number of weights glued on to balance it fairly. Sometimes front hub is damaged and cracks. Sometimes installing front disc to the front hub causes bit of misalignment. And sometimes one of the two flat screws that hold disc brakes to the hub is not fully screwed in. Dunno, … you probably have to check it all.
Best,

… btw, what about a spindle nut? Torqued properly and secured?
I have tried that method too but saw no results either.
Yes the spindel nut is tight to proper torque. 🙂
One thing i did after installing the new rotors and pads was that i beded the brakes. Can it be that i warped the rotors by bedding them?
Is it really necessary that i have to bed the brakes after new installment?
Well, … all literature from brake-type folks I have read say that one is to imbed brake pads to rotors. I did just that once, … on my company car. Idea was, hell, not my car, … let’s try it!
Disaster, … I had to have a brake job done in the next three or so months, as I remember. Never again, …
Anyway, … that was the one time only. Before, … and after that, I have never imbedded brake pads - new cars, old cars, post brake jobs cars. Never had I a problem! It just may be it, … read owners manuals of new cars, … all they say, don’t brake hard for, … say, first 600-1,000 klicks - unless you have to in emergency. There must be something to this, …
Best,
