Hello Scotty,
I hope you are doing well and thank you for taking my question.
I'm considering a purchase of a used Mazda cx5 within the next 12 months. I want one without the start stop/ cylinder deactivation technology. But one thing I can not avoid is the GDI technology. Is there a way I can clean up the carbon buildup on the valves when I purchase the vehicle.
I understand that once I drive the vehicle I can try to minimize this with certain driving habits - e.g. driving longer distances at proper operating temperature's, avoid driving short distances with the engine at lower temp etc.
any advice would be appreciated!
Kind regards
Joe G

Staying on top of oil changes(every 5K miles), running the engine at higher RPMs and giving the car an occasional Italian Tuneup will help prevent carbon buildup.
