Hi scotty,
We have been using a Toyota Corolla 1994 for more than two decades. It is a manual transmission EFI engine, with more than 380km.
With it's age, what should be the important spare parts (fuel pump, etc) that we should always bring so that we wont get stuck when they break down especially on long drives
Fuel pump, well that depends, how feasible on that car would it be to change it on the side of the road? Fan belt would be good thing to carry (I keep spares in my vehicles). If the car has a distributor maybe a spare cap and rotor.
Looks like it is under the back seat and the whole assembly can be had for around $100 bucks. May not be readily available at the local parts place, so probably a good idea to have in the trunk.
I always carry the following -
Toilet paper
Water
turn, brake and running light bulbs.
tire repair kit.
A selection of different size vacuum hoses.
Portable compressor, 12v.
bare minimum tool kit.
knife, lighter, and a sheet of gasket material.
The toilet paper by far is the most important!
forget all that other stuff and carry $5000 in cash! {pear}:laughingoutloud:
I carry a whole bunch of crap until I get to know the vehicle. I got a Milwaukee 18V 1/2” impact driver, And boy is it easy and fast to get the wheel off to fix or change a flat. I carry it with me
I carry mostly survival/comfort stuff, not car repair parts - fuses, duct tape, zip ties, multi-tool, fire extinguisher, 12v air compressor, rubber (nitrile) gloves, tarp or poncho, blanket, first aid kit, Kleenex, water bottles, AAA card.
