Hello everyone, I bought this second hand honda city 2013 manual transmission with vtec technology. After buying it, I changed the oil to Honda SAE 0W-20 Fully Synthetic API SN 4L . But some of my colleagues says that engine oil is for countries that has cold climate only and its dangerous in the philippines because of hot climate. And they sugested that I should use Honda 10W-30 engine oil. I 'm confused.

Use the oil specification and quantity that’s mentioned in your owner’s manual.

Oil ratings are labeled as XX W - YY.

XX is relevant for cold startup, YY is at operating temperature (WHICH IS NOT AFFECTED BY CLIMATE)

So changing 20 to 30 "because of climate" just shows they have no clue as to what they're doing.

Buy what's recommended by the car maker - Honda knows better than you and me.

My wife has a 2013 Accord V6 Sedan. On the oil fill cap is written, SAE 0W-20. We live in Southern California where it gets quite warm. I just checked the Weather Channel, and the predicted high temps for Manila ranges from 88 degrees fahrenheit to 94 degrees. Here for the rest of this month the predicted high temps range from 83 to 102. I follow what is written on the oil fill cap and also what Honda recommends in the service manual.

Here is the link for the manual:

By the way, this is a free online PDF manual, which provides all information regarding the motor oil requirements for your car.
