Am I a victim of selective memory or is wind buffeting more prevalent in newer vehicles than those manufactured in say the 70s through about 2000? I don’t recall earlier vehicles that I’ve owned having buffeting problems. However those I’ve had since about the turn of the century all seem to exhibit this problem regardless of the manufacturer.

It might have something to do with aerodynamics. Vehicle body shape is constantly evolving to meet tighter fuel economy mandates. It's a complex engineering challenge. I could see sideview mirrors being replaced with cameras and sensors soon.
