CVT oil question

So i went to the mechanic today after buying a tin of cvt tc oil for my 2012 corolla axio with 67000km, he ended up not being able to start the job but had somehow lost the lid for the tin (he was very busy), dont ask me how he lost it.. anyway we had to pour it into a big  plastic bottle so it wouldnt spill in the car. The bottle had droplets of water in it, i tried to dry it out as best as i could but there was definitely droplets of water in there when i poured the oil back in. my questiom is this oil still safe to use or have i just wasted 50 dollars. Thanks

Cvt fluids are bad for contamination like brake fluid unless it’s coming from a sealed container I would avoid using it if possible

I would never go back to that mechanic again if that happened to me. Clearly they were not responsible enough to keep track of a simple lid for important fluid like that, and it says a lot about how that person works too. Do not use the fluid as the other member mentioned. Sorry to hear about this.

water is heavier than oil, so just turn the container upside down and drain off the water.

If you don’t know exactly how the fluid was handled from the moment it was opened, I would get rid of it. And who knows if the plastic container was clean or not. No one wants to waste $50 but cheaper than possible issues down the road because of compromised fluid.

Exactly right! Clearly the fluid bottle remained open for a while if the lid went missing in the first place. There's no way you can lose the lid right after opening it, so it seems as though the bottle was neglected while open and could have been compromised. Good point sir.
