Daily Driver Help!

I’m looking to get a new daily driver. I’m currently driving my 2006 Chevy 1500 50 miles round trip to work and to do instacart deliveries. Really only looking at Toyota and Honda. If I get a sedan it will be a Camry or Corolla or maybe a Matrix Wagon. But I have found a one owner 2006 Honda CRV AWD with 130K miles that is a 1 owner with extensive service records. I have no experience with CR-Vs. Any feedback is appreciated!

since you depend on your vehicle to make a living, I would get something newer.  Also, AWD will burn more fuel.

@mountainmanjoe
They have a 2wd model as well. My question was mainly focused more towards the reliability of the CR-V. I know Toyota’s track record of reliability, and Honda is supposed to be reliable except for the auto transmission. I would buy something newer but I’m a cheap ass.

the tax exemption should lessen the sting, and if you lease then you save even more money

Get a 4 cylinder Camry if its size fits your needs. Easy to work on ( if needed), cheap parts, good mpg.

@yaser
If I can find one with lower mileage I definitely will. That’s my first choice. I love camrys.

@yaser
Make sure it's not one from 2007-2011 that generation has horrible quality compared to the earlier one's and the 4 cylinder's burn ton's of oil. If you can find a 2005-2006 XLE that will be the best.

@yaser
Also make sure if you get one that's older not to get a cheap one with very low miles, if it has under say 10k miles and it's a 2010, you could have some early on serious mechanical issues or so I heard.

Stay wawy from any vehicle that has Takata airbags!

@man_w_2003_66000_miles_van
don't you just get a free replacement if you do?

@mountainmanjoe if I recall I think msnbc actually did a insiders look at some repair shops, they failed to mention the recall regardless of the amount of attempts, I'm sure if it was replaced it's fine, but if not yeah, it's like having a parachute to stop you from falling but pulling it also pulls the pin on a frag grenade. Personally though idk how bad it was, I don't know where the OP lives, if it's where it snows alot, awd would be better so they don't get stuck but fwd shouldn't have too many issues either, otherwise something more reliable and preferably with a 4cly. Engine probably would be fine, especially without awd.

yeah they are too risky
but bring it to a mechanic i dont know if he can check but takata is a good company to stay away from airbags in older vehicles are risky enough no need for a lethal weapon in it.

they are good but some of the automatic transmission's are weak. no matter what you get, bring it to a mechanic. Mid 2000's camry's and matrix's have oil burning issue's i have a friend with a rav4 with 70k miles and it burns oil like mad.

@kerem-umut-kerem
Does the oil burning issue only affect the 2.5L? Or is the 1.8 affected too? I found a 2011 Corolla with 87k miles too.

the oil issues is the 2.4L and the 2009 corolla xrs with the 2.4. the 1.8's should be good as far as im aware 87k is nothing for a corolla those are good cars just dont pay a lot i wouln't pay over 9 10k

those toyotas have takata airbags tho so look into that if it was recalled and fixed

@kerem-umut-kerem
It’s for sale for $8500. And I will for sure before buying.
