Buy something new, buy used, or keep 2004 4Runner?

Hey Scotty, I have a 2004 Toyota 4runner with 184,000 miles on it. Bought it from a dealer auction in Florida and took it back to Michigan. Had to replace some stuff but it came with brand new TRD racing tires and a lift kit. I just recently felt a clunk under the driver-side back tire and it sounded like a thick balloon popping. this was the sound of my lower control arm joint to the frame snapping off which exposed a massive spot of rust on the inside of this portion of the frame. I decided to have it cut out and inserted with a new piece welded on. With the current standing SUV, I get 15 mpg, which I'm not a fan of and would like more. Plus I think I may have more problems with this car in the future and want something that will last forever while also having a rock-solid dependability

here's my question:
Do I  1. sell the now fixed 04 Toyota 4runner or keep it   2. if I sell, do I buy a new ford maverick (hybrid) or an old Toyota again while being in Michigan with worse gas mileage and probably some rust.

this is an automatic SUV with 1 evap code

Do you need a large rugged SUV, or will a sedan suffice?

Sell the vehicle.

I've seen a couple of Ford Mavericks on the road where I live. If you want to try it out, lease the vehicle and then get rid of it before the warranty expires.

all I need is a vehicle to get me from point A to point B, would be nice to haul small things such as jet skis/ dirt bikes. however, I'm not picky or depending on driving a "cool" car.

What do you define as "cool"?

If you’re after good gas mileage, then look at RAV4/CRV vehicles with the old but reliable NA engines and conventional automatics. I’m assuming you’re used to the high seating position in the 4Runner and would like a similar experience in your new car, but with sedan like gas mileage. Test drive a few of them and please report back with a shortlist. All the best!
