I have a 2021 Corolla with 65 k miles. I just bought it a month ago from a dealership. Every time the parking brake engages and disengages it makes a squealing sound, kind of sounds like a motor. The squeal sound is much more apparent when disengaging. It made a sound before but it's much louder now. And it's on my passenger side. I contacted the dealership and they want to charge me the $190 to diagnose and then they told me that it might not be under warranty if it's not an issue. It doesn't seem like it affects the car's drivability. It just sounds like a dying cat. I'm all ears with any advice. Thanks
See if this is similar to what you're hearing.
The 1st video is the "Before" video.
The 2nd video is the "After" video.
He applied brake grease between the shims and the pads as well as on the caliper piston the outboard caliper contact points.

It may be time for new brake pads anyway so if you have the service records see when they were last replaced. They're going to have to remove the calipers and pads to this so if you're going to be in for $190 anyway, now would be the time to do the rear brake job if needed.
But I'd call around to some independent shops and get a quote for rear pads and rotors.
You're probably looking in the $400 to $450 range.
Just tell them to make sure to grease between the backing shims and the back of the brake pads and the caliper contact points.
