I have a 2016 Honda CR-V AWD and want to know is there anything special that I need to do when washing my engine bay with a pressure washer? I have the cleaning spray just want to know if there's anything that needs covering up?
Thanks
I have pressure washed many engine bays over my time. Really if you just avoid hitting the major electrical equipment (alternator, fuse box, computers) you will be okay. Most modern cars are designed to get a little wet under the engine bay. Some people cover their alternator with a plastic bag and stuff but its not entirely necessary.
If your car has ever been through an auction the engine bay was probably pressure washed with a 3000 psi hot water pressure washer.
Don't use a pressure washer. Use a very low pressure garden hose with a wide spray pattern.
Cover ECU if it's in the engine bay, cover the alternator and battery. That's all.
I never pressure wash. I just get a rag and some soapy water (usually what's left after washing the outside) and maybe a long handled brush and just scrub away the dirt and grime I see. Then garden hose it down. Good enough for me.
