So I am planning to buy a sports car that can last me 100000miles with out any major issues and I know I know they need to be maintained and taken properly
And not
Mazda Miata or Honda Civic type R
I am looking for two door coupe that has around 600 to 700 hp?
I am also try to avoid BMW and Mercedes. Also not planning to buy hyper car like Ferrari or Lamborghini. Trust me I can buy the car if I want but insurance yeah
Should have said drag strip and race track my bad and some what daily driving like crusing down the highway
600 to 700 horsepower cars are not known to go 100k miles without having issues.
ALL of the American cars making that power have issues. You aren't interested in the Germans, the Japanese don't make that kind of power, and the Italians will bankrupt you.
Fast, cheap, or reliable. You can only have two. I honestly can't think of any car making that power, stock, that I would consider being reliable for 100k+ miles.
Since you are looking at 600-700 hp (I presume stock) and have best chance to last you to 100,000 miles with (hopefully) minimal issues - that’s really going to be tough, if not impossible to find. Any choice mentioned will have its own set of issues - so pick your poison.
If I were in your shoes, I would probably take a chance (risk) on a Camaro ZL1 with 650 hp: go 2019 or newer to avoid oil pump issues in the LT4 engine (from 2017/2018 years). You didn’t define how you plan to use the vehicle, but this can hold its own (bone stock) at either a drag strip or a race track against cars costing 2x, 3x as much. I would pay for the extended warranty (OEM only) to get you to 100,000 miles, as extra insurance.
Also, you can get the ZL1 with a proven 6-speed Tremec manual. Definitely get that versus the Ford/GM designed 10-speed AT to mitigate transmission issues.
Try and go for a dodge charger with the 5.7 Hemi and 8 speed ZF transmission. The HEMI engines are relatively good motors and the ZF transmissions are bulletproof. If you can find one that hasn't been driven crazy, it can be fun to drive if you take care of it. My dad has a '11 300C 102k with the five speed transmission. Although he hasn't had any issues, be careful if you find a five speed automatic
I will give it a shot
OP is looking for 600-700 hp, presumably stock.
Please don't do this. I have had a Challenger R/T and a Charger R/T and BOTH had issues. Plus, for that horsepower, neither comes close.
If all you care about is driving in a straight line, the Charger is fine. But you also mentioned race track and this vehicle is a complete no go for that kind of usage.
That said, personally I wouldn't touch a Chrysler product with someone else's 10 foot pole.
I’ve seen some guys get those old 90s Lexus sc300s and sc400s up pretty high in horsepower after mods. Cheap and their engines could probably last a long time even abused. And those things really do go for dirt cheap so it doesn’t have to be a fantasy anymore, go pick one up
Toyota Supra
Topic starter says he’s trying to avoid BMWs..
And 600 to 700 hp, I presume stock.
I personally would get a Shelby GT350R. I really like the VooDoo flat plane crank motor and the manual transmission. Plus the magnetic suspension handles really well but can still offer a somewhat decent ride.
OP wants 600+ hp
I know, but due to the high revving of the Gt350, it will hang with most 600+ cars like the Camaro ZL1. Also 526hp is not too far from 600.
Stock vs stock and assuming both drivers have same/similar skill level, the GT350 won’t be able to hang with the ZL1 at the drag strip or race tracks or top speed runs. That’s just the objective truth backed up by measured times (0 to 60, quarter mile, skid pad, braking, etc.) and track times on different racing circuits. Not sure what OP’s intentions are - if he wants the fastest lap times and also last to 100,000 miles maybe he is better of in the ZL1 1LE instead - which is even more hardcore than the regular ZL1.
If he plans to go to the winding roads only, then none of these cars can be driven to their full potential in public (and becomes a moot point) - not without going to jail or endangering lives.
Also that Voodoo engine drinks a lot of oil and have blown in many instances. It’s a shame, because I really like the Shelby GT350 (and the engine sound) but Ford quality overall has been disappointing.
The GT350's have a ton of issues and a high-revving engine is no replacement for power. @Daywalker is right.
Based on my research (thanks all knowing internet 😆 ) a lot of the oil burning and blown engines can be attributed to over revving when cold and not following the break in procedure. Also any track car will not last. People often consider track miles are 10x times harder on the engine than normal miles.
Also higher revving can make up for less power. Every time the car has to shift, it stops accelerating. So if you can stay in the power band longer and shift less, you will stay accelerating longer and thus can make up for a more powerful car that shifts more.
But overall, I will probably never be able to afford a GT350 and I was just saying what I would get.
I've seen them blow while just cruising down the road with very low mileage. YouTube has a bunch of examples of this. Very unfortunate.
Think outside the box. The problem is that 6/700hp cars aren't really designed to last 100k. If money is no object, lease a couple AMG Mercs or BMW M cars. Or, buy two high-spec Mustangs or Camaros.
You know that after 4 or 5 years, you'll want whatever is new at that point.
