A Fiat dealer nearby has got 6 2017 Fiat 500E's all with under 20,000 miles for under $11,400. Still under factory warranty with 12 months left. The battery is under warranty until 2025. I have read that the drivetrain is basically German Bosch components. Does anyone have any idea if these electric Fiats are any better than their gas counterparts? The range is 85-100 miles on a charge and that will be sufficient for me for commuting purposes. I think I could negotiate the price of of one of these with 12,000 miles below $10,000, which seems like an OK price for a fairly new car that originally cost $35,000.
Any thoughts?
My thoughts on this are along the lines of Scotty's review of the electric Smart For Two, which he said was a much better electric car than a gas car. I am curious if the same logic holds true for the electric fiat vs the gas fiat
The rest of the car is built the same as the gas versions. I wouldn't purchase a Fiat myself.
The rest of the vehicle is Fiat, and while the whole vehicle has fewer moving parts than the gas version it is all electric - and Fiat is not known for reliable electronics, esp. over time. I would walk away from those.
Not in the US certainly not. You might want to consider the Nissan Leaf for an electric car, or save yourself the hassle and get yourself a Toyota gasoline car.
Do yourself a favor and get a Toyota. If you want hybrid, get a low mileage Prius.
Worst car you can get
