Fifth generation Celica GT project car

Hey Scotty

There's a fifth generation Celica gt for sale near me that looks ok (pics of front end don't show major issues) but the owner said it has been in a front end accident and hasn't been on the road for 3 years since. Would this be a good project car with 145k miles? Are parts easy to come by with this model? Anything I should watch out for? He doesn't list a price but he's interested in getting rid of it.

Thanks,

Todd

Though I would agree that it could be a good, fun project car - front-end accidents can look fixed, but there are bent things in suspension and steering components that are hard for anybody who isn't an expert to detect, yet hard and expensive to repair.

I myself would be more comfortable getting a project car with a blown engine or trans, and replacing that with a used motor - you would know what you're getting into. There are a LOT of old Celicas out there, they were big sellers in the 90s.

No.

You’re after a fun project car. What you may be getting into is a wrecked nightmare.

I’d take @glen_stet ‘s advice & keep looking for an accident free one.
