Is the 2011 Ford Taurus good car even tho the water pump is ran by the timing chain. And how long does the water pump last when driven by the timing chain?
I would say that this model year and a ford taurus in general is not a good car.
It’s a decent car, I own one with 100,000 miles on it. I do change my coolant every two years to keep it from rusting and the water pump strong. Change the oil every 3,500 miles and transmission fluid every 25,000 miles. A complete Power steering fluid change once a year and break fluid once every two years. And plugs every 70,000. Throttle and MAF sensor once a year. If you do all that like I do, it will last. But drive conservatively tho.
I had three Taurus over the years. None lasted more than 110,000. All of them required a LOT of maintenance. The water pump was crazy hard to remove and replace as the bolts tended to rust in place and access was limited. One had the transmission completely fail with less than 100,000 miles. The rebuild shop said it was bad design and they rebuilt a lot of them. The front ends were very fragile and I had to replace the struts and springs and tie rod ends. The AC on all of them were problematic and required expensive repairs.
Overall, there was a reason why Ford stopped making them...they just weren't good cars. If you have one, good luck. I'd get rid of it if you can.

What year Taurus’s did you have? I’m just curious because I have a 2010 and mine seems to be running perfectly fine at 100,000 and I know someone who has a 2010 the same feelings as me, but he has 225,000 miles.
