(2013 Honda Civic LX sedan CVT) So I just recently bought two new tires and rotated the back ones to the front because my driver side tire kept getting flat and the TPMS light came on but now that I did that the driver side tire tpms light is coming on again with the rotated tires that were fine in the back and it appears to have a slow leak again. Could this be a bad rim causing the problem? When I fill my tire to 30psi the tpms light goes away for a while so I know it’s probably not a bad tpms sensor. My car facts said the car was in a minor accident on that side of the car a few years before I bought it and was wondering if that might have something to do with it. It’s annoying always having to fill that tire up every two or three days.
You have either a bad valve stem, a bent or damaged rim or a bad tire.
Best way to find the leak is to have a tub of water big enough for the wheel to fit at least partially into and look for bubbles while slowly rotating the tire in the tub to get full coverage. I don't have a tub big enough for that, so what I do is pour/brush soapy water all over the tire, the valve stem, and the bead and look for bubbles. It's a bit tedious but works.
It's easier to put the soapy water mixture in a spray bottle.
Now that is an example of smart thinking! 😎
Yes, rims can leak. Especially aluminum ones.
It could be that there is rust on the edge of the rim or around the valve stem. Sometimes that can cause an air leak.
