Brand New Subaru outback limiited purchased 12/30/21....my Motorola G7 cell phone worked seamlessly after their product specialist installed it until January 10,2022 when the speech using Bluetooth became martian like GARBLED SPEECH . Subaru service doesn't know how to fix it do my phone will work again.
After the purchase... salesperson states that Subaru has an official list of phones that work in their cars.
I told dealership if they don't get my phone to work again...then they owe me a phone that will work..
what do you 🤔
Thank you
They are not going to buy you a phone.
My experience over the years has been that bluetooth can be quite buggy. Mass-market consumer smartphones (Android and iOS) are not under the control of their owners and are at the mercy of the manufacturer and wireless services. It's quite possible a software update was pushed out to your phone that introduced an incompatibility with the Subaru's bluetooth. It's also possible that a software update for your car is either available or will be available in the future that will fix the problem.
Highly unlikely.
THANK YOU for commenting on my car's Bluetooth issue.
You are very welcome.
Are you using a bluetooth or do you have wireless android auto?
(it might have only wired android auto, I'm not that familiar with Subarus)
If you aren't using Android Auto - I'd try that first, it might avoid this issue altogether.
Subaru has a list of devices that should be compatible with your car, I couldn't find the Moto G7 on there - They do have a point, they can't just go and test tens of thousands of phone models with each update changing major things and they already "guarantee" compatibility on more devices than any other car company would ever dare to.
I think it's something that has to do with your phone, check it on other cars. If it happened after an update, I'd assume that it is something that has to do with the update - have you checked the update notes? maybe it says something about them changing the way bluetooth works?
But just in case, try another phone and see if the speech is still get's garbled - it might be an actual issue with the car. But IF it's not, then it's something with your phone, you can complain to Lenovo/Motorola or hope that Subaru updates the "StarLink In-Vehicle Technology" to fix the mess that Android update has caused.
Yeah, I don't think demanding a new phone from the dealership to fix an update of Android on your Motorola is a good idea. I get that it's a car made by them but it really sounds like it's your phone that's causing the issue.
